We remove asbestos wall sheeting and fibro cladding in Townsville, with the scope established from the material, its condition and the area involved. Post-war low-set homes commonly used fibro external cladding, so testing and licensed planning are important before a renovation, demolition or repair.
Fibro external wall cladding, especially on post-war low-set homes. Internal wet-area linings were also used in bathrooms, laundries and kitchens. Pre-1990: asbestos was still in use in Australian building products. A house age or appearance can guide the conversation, but it cannot confirm asbestos; use asbestos testing where confirmation is needed.
Wall work can extend below a high-set home or around eaves. Explore under-house asbestos removal and eaves and soffit removal when those materials are part of the same project.
Do not mistake LDB for ordinary fibro
Since 1 May 2021, Queensland classifies low density asbestos fibre board (LDB) as friable asbestos, meaning it requires a Class A licensed removalist regardless of quantity. LDB was used as internal wall and ceiling lining in some Queensland homes and is often mistaken for ordinary fibro sheet.
A Class A licence is required for friable asbestos in any amount, and also permits non-friable removal work.
A Class B licence permits removal of more than 10 square metres of non-friable (bonded) asbestos. The classification and amount of material shape the removal method, so we do not assume every sheet product carries the same requirements.
How wall and cladding removal is planned
Confirm the material
We review what is proposed for removal and arrange testing where a result is required.
Define the work area
We identify the wall, adjoining finishes, access and any linked under-house or eave sheeting.
Set the licensed scope
The material classification determines whether Class A or Class B removal requirements apply.
Remove with control
The job is approached as asbestos work, not general strip-out, with handling planned to avoid unnecessary disturbance.
Contain waste
Removed material is packaged for compliant transport and disposal rather than placed with general building waste.
Plan the next stage
After removal, discuss the appropriate inspection or clearance pathway before rebuilding proceeds.
Wall removal pricing
Wall and cladding removal is quoted on site. The material, size, access and condition determine the scope, and your free on-site quote gives you a fixed price before work starts.
For a closer look at the range, visit the wall sheeting cost guide. We provide free on-site quotes for removal work, while testing is a separate paid service.
Plan wall work before renovation starts
Wall sheeting can be connected to trim, wet areas, eaves, under-house enclosures and later alterations. Looking at the whole proposed work area helps avoid a partial scope that leaves suspect material to be disturbed by another trade. A test result is particularly valuable when the intended work will cut, drill, remove or otherwise change an older sheet product.
The difference between bonded fibro and low density asbestos fibre board is important. LDB is classified as friable asbestos in Queensland, so it is not appropriate to assume that an internal board can be handled like ordinary wall cladding. We use the material classification to determine the licensed removal pathway.
Our removal quote is free and completed on site. It is separate from laboratory testing, which is paid work. This distinction lets you choose the appropriate evidence and scope before committing to removal or rebuilding.
